How to Measure Windows with Stucco or Siding
If your home has a stucco, vinyl siding, fiber cement, or similar exterior, watch the video below for a step-by-step demonstration of how to take your initial window measurements.
Before You Start
Have these ready:
- Tape measure
- Phone or notepad to record measurements
- Photos of the window, if requested
What to Measure
Follow along with the video to record the:
1. Width
Measure the window opening as demonstrated in the video.
2. Height
Take the vertical measurement following the same reference points shown in the video.
3. Window Type
Make a note of the type of window you’re measuring, such as single hung, double hung, picture, or another style.
Tip: Measure each window individually. Windows that look identical may have slightly different dimensions.

How to Measure Windows with Brick or Stone
Brick and stone exteriors have different reference points around the window, so it’s important to follow the correct measuring method.

What to Measure
The video will show you exactly where to position your tape measure and which dimensions we need.
Record the:
1. Width
Follow the reference points demonstrated in the brick and stone video.
2. Height
Measure vertically using the points shown in the video.
3. Window Type
Note the style of each window you’re planning to replace.
Important: Don’t assume the visible brick or stone opening is necessarily the measurement needed for the replacement window. Follow the video instructions for the correct measuring points.
